Frequently Asked Questions

We understand you might have some questions about our service, here are the most commonly asked questions.

Where are you located?

Our Clinic is located at 1/857 Doncaster Rd, Doncaster East, Vic 3109. We have both face to face and Telehealth appointments available for patients.

Do you have face to face and online availability?

We have both Face to face and online appointments available from our clinic in Doncaster East. If you would prefer to see a practitioner face to face let our team know during booking and they can try to find a suitable practitioner. Our face to face availability is more limited but our team will work to accommodate your preferences. We can also see patients via Telehealth (Video conference) or via phone call and can see patients from any state in Australia online through Telehealth.

When do you have appointments available?

We can usually see you within 1–2 weeks. If your needs are more complex or call for a practitioner with specific expertise, it may take a bit longer to find the right fit, and our team will let you know the expected wait when you book.

Will I receive a Medicare rebate?

Yes. We provide Medicare and Private Health Insurance Rebates to eligible clients. For further
information see the
Australian psychological Societies page

Is counselling confidential?

Yes. Every counselling session is private and confidential. The information shared during your sessions is for the purpose of assessment, diagnosis and treatment and helps us provide you with the best possible support.

As set out in the Psychology Board of Australia’s Code of Ethics, limitations to this confidentiality apply if there is an immediate or specified risk of harm to an identifiable persons safety, or if a client’s file is subpoenaed by law.

What can I expect from my first session?

The first question your Psychologist will tend to ask is “What brings you here today?” They will
often ask some general questions about you and your life so they can start to understand how
they can best assist you with your problem. Your psychologist will also give you an overview of

What you can expect from your counselling experience and discuss the first steps and strategies
you can take to start making a positive emotional change in your life.

How long will it take to hear from you once I have submitted my request?

Once you have submitted a request you will immediately receive an SMS letting you know we have received the form. Our team will get in touch with you within 1-3 business days to find a suitable practitioner for you and discuss availability.

How Many Sessions Will I need?

The minimum number we suggest is four sessions, however the counselling process is different
for every individual and the number of sessions you need, will depend upon your unique circumstances.
Some people resolve their issues in small number of sessions, where others prefer to work on their emotional development on a long term basis. Your practitioner will discuss your goals for therapy during the first appointment and create a plan with you to give you an idea of how many session you will need.

What Type of Therapies do you use?

Depending on your needs and the psychologist you work with, different styles of counselling and therapy may be used. Total Wellbeing Psychologists commonly use Psychotherapy, Psychoanalysis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy and Systemic
Approach Therapy.
